Allstar Plastigage kits are effective and easy. Each kit contains 12 in. long strings—two green .001 in. to .003 in., and one red .002 in. to .006 in.—individually packaged inside calibrated sleeves and detailed instructions. Plastigage strips are an accurate and economical way to verify crankshaft, main, and rod bearing clearances.
We recommend using dial bore gauge and mics but if those are not available these are the next best thing to ensure clearances are within spec.
