Butler Performance — Over 60 Years of Pontiac History

Butler Performance has been part of the Pontiac performance world for over six decades. Here's a look at the milestones that shaped who we are today.

1960s — The Beginning

Butler Performance is founded in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. From the start, the focus is exclusively on Pontiac — the muscle cars and performance engines that defined American driving in the 1960s. Word spreads quickly among Pontiac enthusiasts that Butler knows their product and stands behind it.

1970s & 1980s — Building a Reputation

As Pontiac production winds down in the late 1970s and performance cars give way to smog-era restrictions, Butler Performance doubles down on the classic years — 1955 through 1979. The enthusiast community grows; Butler becomes the go-to source for builders who want to do it right.

1990s — Going Online

Butler Performance launches one of the first Pontiac-specific online stores, expanding from regional sales to a national customer base. The internet allows Pontiac enthusiasts across all 50 states — and internationally — to access parts and expertise that were previously only available by phone or mail order.

2000s — Exclusive Products

Butler Performance develops exclusive camshaft grinds in partnership with COMP Cams. The Ram Air Series and Hi-Torq Series cam grinds are engineered specifically for Pontiac applications and cannot be purchased anywhere else. The product catalog grows to over 10,000 Pontiac-specific parts.

2015 — Major Facility Expansion

Butler Performance completes a major expansion of its Lawrenceburg facility. A Haas UMC-750P 5-axis CNC machining center, full Pontiac machine shop, and Superflow Dyno Center are added. For the first time, Butler can handle complete engine builds entirely in-house — from raw block through dyno-verified complete engine.

Today — The World Leader

Butler Performance is recognized worldwide as the leading authority on traditional Pontiac V8 performance. We serve customers in all 50 states and internationally, ship thousands of orders annually, and build complete engines for customers ranging from weekend street drivers to national record holders. The commitment is the same as it was in the 1960s: know the product, stand behind it, and treat every customer like family.
